As the “Aurora Watchman,” world-renowned northern lights photographer, Dave has been chasing and capturing these magnificent displays on camera since 1980 and will be on hand to help you see the northern lights. On average, Mother Nature performs her magical show one out of three nights, so your Aurora Watch® offers a good chance to see a display. And whether you are a casual or professional photographer, Dave is happy to share his photography tips with you. Itinerary/Details

Day 1 - Anchorage

Your adventure begins with an overnight stay in downtown Anchorage. 

 

Day 2 - Anchorage/Talkeetna

Travel north to the quaint town of Talkeetna, known in the summer as the starting point for climbers attempting to scale Mt. McKinley.  Meet up with your host and guide to the skies, Dave Parkhurst.

Day 3 - Talkeetna

As the “Aurora Watchman,” Dave is on hand to help you see the northern lights. On average, Mother Nature performs her magical show one out of three nights, so your Aurora Watch offers a good chance to see a display.

 

Day 4 - Talkeetna

During your stay in Talkeetna, choose from a variety of optional activities. Take a flightseeing tour of North America’s tallest peak, go dog sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmachining (snowmobiling).

 

Day 5 - Talkeetna

Enjoy another day of optional excursions or just relax during the day – your nights are sure to be filled with excitement!

 

Day 6 - Talkeetna/Anchorage

After experiencing the town of Talkeetna and learning more about the northern lights, return to Anchorage for your overnight stay. The rest of the evening is yours to explore Alaska’s largest city.

Additional dates outside this period may also be available. All trips are subject to passenger minimum requirements (4 participants).
